Drexel Golf Wins Rehoboth Beach Invitational

Rehoboth, Del. - The Drexel golf team finished first in a field of nine teams at the 2007 Rehoboth Beach Invitational. The Dragons finished at 17-over-par, four strokes better than Monmouth. Steve Ransom posted the best individual score of all the golfers at the invitational, carding a 141, 1-under-par. Teammate Sean Semenetz finished second overall with a 2-over par 144.
Ransom shot a scorching 4-under-par 67 in the opening round and finished with a 74 in the second round. His 67 in the first round was the only sub-70 round of the invitational. Semenetz fired a 73 in the first round and a 71 in the second round. Four of the five rounds he has played this year have been par or better. Freshman Steve Kidron tied for sixth overall shooting a 5-over-par for the event in just his second collegiate competition. Myles Vlachos fired a 154 for the tournament and finished with two key birdies on the final two holes to lead the Dragons to the win.
The Dragons were tied for first with Monmouth and Iona at 292 after the first round but Semenetz's 71 along with Kidron's 72 in the second round helped Drexel pull out the victory.
